Andbank, a global financial group specialising in private banking, has appointed Javier Planelles as the Group’s Managing Director of Technology and Operations. Planelles will report to Carlos Aso, the group’s new CEO, and he will be responsible for the bank’s digital transformation, as well as the group’s operations in all the countries in which it operates.

Javier Planelles joined Cecabank in 2004. Throughout his career there he held various positions of responsibility in different departments until his appointment as Director of Operations in 2013, a position he held until 2016.

From that year onwards, he took on the position of Corporate Director of the Operational Services Department, leading corporate operations in business acquisition and financial activities and supporting business integration and digital transformation projects, regulatory adaptation and the expansion of the business in both Spain and Portugal.

In addition, he represented CECA on the Iberclear Users’ Committee and on the Clearing, Settlement and Registration Group (CLR in its Spanish initials) of the National Securities Market Commission.

A graduate in Economics from the San Pablo-CEU University in Madrid, he began his career in 1998 at Arthur Andersen (later absorbed by Deloitte) and subsequently at Management Solutions as an auditor and consultant in the financial sector, specialising in Treasury and Capital Markets.

He completed various programmes related to innovation, leadership and technology such as The Valley Digital Business School’s Digital Business Senior Management Programme, the MIT Professional Education Innovation Leadership Programme and ThePowerMBA programme.

In addition, he regularly participates as a speaker in academic and professional forums and in recent years has actively participated in various working groups and committees of the European Central Bank, the CNMV and the Spanish Depositories Association (ADEPO in its Spanish initials).
