Andbank has appointed Jacobo Baltar as the new General Secretary of the Group and the Board of Directors. Baltar will also be responsible for supervising international subsidiaries, reporting to Antonio Castro, Deputy Director of Corporate Services.

This new appointment is part of the internationalization process carried out by the Andbank Group since 2008. The bank is thereby reinforcing its commitment to good corporate governance and to the recruitment of top-level professionals, two of the Group’s main aims in its strategic plan.

Baltar has extensive professional experience in the field of legal advice and financial regulation. He comes from CaixaBank, where he was International Corporate Counsel in London. Previously, he was Secretary General of Barclays in Spain and Director of Legal Advice for the same entity.

The new General Secretary of the Andbank Group began his professional activity at international law firms, first at Uría Menéndez, then at Garrigues and, finally, at Baker & McKenzie. He holds a Degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, a Master’s in Legal Advice and a global MBA from the IE Business School. He has also worked as an Associate Professor of Financial Markets Law at Carlos III University in Madrid.

“The recruitment of a world-class professional such as Jacobo Baltar allows us to continue promoting the Group’s strategic plan and to reinforce our commitment to strict compliance with regulatory requirements in the eleven countries in which we are present”, says Ricard Tubau, CEO of the Andbank Group.
