The flagship event on Andorra’s swimming circuit will welcome more than 20 clubs, including swimmers from the neighbouring countries to the south and north
The Andorran Swimming Federation and Andbank announced this morning the
renewal of a sponsorship partnership that has linked them for almost a decade. The
two parties signed an agreement that Maria Suárez, Andbank’s Director of Domestic
Banking, described as “important to us because it allows us to continue supporting a
federation we have worked alongside for many years”. FAN president Joan Clotet
thanked Andbank for “the support you have given us from the very first day;
Andbank has become a key part of the growth of swimming in the country and of our
ability to keep moving forward with the FAN’s future challenges”.
Swimming technical director Alfonso Maltrana also looked ahead by announcing the
relaunch of the Andbank Open, which will take place on 1 May 2026. “It is the most
important event we have in the country and, to coincide with this renewal, we
wanted to give it fresh momentum.” This year’s sixth edition of the Andbank Open
will therefore feature more than 20 Andorran and international clubs, with athletes
from the neighbouring countries to the south and north, strengthening links with the
federations in both territories.
Maltrana also highlighted the schedule for 2026. In the development categories, the
aim is to place as many under-15 swimmers as possible in the top ten and to
increase Andorran participation in the Spanish under-18 championships.
Internationally, the FAN will continue its preparations for Monaco 2027 while also
competing in the Comen Cup, the European Junior Championships and the
European Senior Championships, where it hopes to qualify between two and four
swimmers who can continue on the path towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic
Games.
New momentum for artistic swimming
Natàlia Meca, the technical director for artistic swimming, also spoke at the renewal
event. She explained that Andorra will again take part in the European Children’s
Championships, held in Luxembourg on 2 and 3 June, and the European Junior
Championships, held in Munich from 30 June to 2 July. The Andorran Routine
Championships will also take place at Serradells on 16 and 17 May, where master
swimmers are expected to join the field, with a target of ten participants. “We are
pleased to continue increasing Andorran participation in international competitions.
We are still growing after the momentum created by the JPE in the country, and we
see a promising future,” Meca said. The 5th Santa Eulàlia Trophy will also be held in
Encamp on 21 March.
