Andorra, 25th August 2020.

Andbank and the Andorra Women Trial Team, the country’s first female grouping in the sport, have formalised their partnership, although the full team was presented a few weeks ago. With this reaffirmation, Andbank undertakes to provide all the logistical and material support required for the team’s development.

The event was attended by Josep M. Cabanes, deputy General Manager of Domestic Banking at Andbank, Josep Punti, the secretary of the Moto Club Pirineu, and team coach Oriol Pi, as well as the team members (Lola Gabriel, 12, Aitana Núñez and Laia Pi, 14, and Maria Font and Alèxia Lladó, 16), who were accompanied by three of the Sherco motorcycles with which they are currently competing.

The Andorra Women Trial Team came into being as a result of the partnership between the Moto Club Pirineu and 4 T Motos, due to the need to form a team from the base upwards. The presentation of the team, which was created earlier this year, had to be delayed due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19.

The girls’ team has already started competing, and it presented the results achieved so far. We should highlight Laia Pi’s first place in the Spanish TR2 Championship and Maria Font’s first position in the Spanish TR3 Championship.

Josep Punti, the secretary of the Moto Club Pirineu, stressed that “the chief purposes of this project are to develop and to take part in the major championships”. Team coach Oriol Pi added that “the training sessions are geared to the long-term. Those that are just starting out need to progress and the goal of the more experienced ones is to achieve results”. He also announced the team’s forthcoming competitions: the Andorran Championship, the Catalan Championship, the Spanish Championship and the World Championship, in which Laia Pi will take part.

According to Josep M. Cabanes, “it’s widely known that Andorra has a great motorcycling tradition, which is why so many stars have come to get to know our country and so many of them have stayed here, so it was necessary to set up this team of young riders to expand the motorcycling spirit at all levels”. He added that “both the Clubs and the Federation, with its 35 years of history, have amply demonstrated the magnificent work they’ve carried out”.
