The Andorran Ski Federation and Andbank 
take stock of the freestyle season

Andorra, 23 October 2019. Today, Andbank and the AEF (Andorran Ski Federation) presented next season’s aims for the Andorran freestyle team, which includes Carlitos Aguareles, at the institution’s headquarters in Escaldes-Engordany, in partnership, like last year, with the Spanish Federation.

The first competition he will take part in will be the freestyle world championships in Modena (Italy), which will be held from 31 October to 3 November. As for the rest of the 2019-20 season, the Andorran skier, with an impressive history in international competitions, plans to participate in 6 Eurocups, 3 pick air events and 2 rounds of the World Cup, in order to enter the Top 30 again.

During the press conference, Aguareles stated: “I feel really good both physically and psychologically and I’m really looking forward to the season and achieving all the goals we’ve set”.

Josep Mª Cabanes, deputy general manager of country banking at Andbank, stated that “at Andbank we’re very happy to contribute to the training of a generation of young talents that form the basis of our country”. Josep Pintat, President of the Andorran Ski Federation, thanked Andbank for its support and expressed his hope that 2020 “will be a year of success, without injuries”.

Carles Visa, Technical Director of the FAE, stressed that “the chief innovation this year has been the introduction of a physical trainer and a physiotherapist to enable us to meet the needs of our athletes much better”. Similarly, Visa remarked that “we’ve created a group of young people made up solely of Spanish skiers until now, but we hope to bring Andorran talent on board soon”.

Josep Gil, Aguareles’ coach, stressed that the skier has the potential “to be among the Top 20 in Europe, as was the case last year, and to score as many as 110 FIS points”. Gil also pointed out that “a Technification Plan has been created with the ECAP and the 360 Extreme centre with 50 young people to have a good pool of talent and base, and they have been doing a great job so far.

In addition to its support for the FAE, Andbank furthers Andorran sport by partnering, among other entities, with the COA (Andorran Olympic Committee) and the FAN (Andorran Swimming Federation), as well as the popular Purito Andorra cycling race.
