Participation in the second Andorra Multisport Festival to double to 3,338 athletes

Escaldes-Engordany, 30 May 2022.

The second Andorra Multisport Festival, organised by the Ironman group and the Government and sponsored by Andbank, will involve 3,338 athletes, almost twice as many as last year, who will compete in the different events held around the country between 24 June and 3 July.

During the presentation held yesterday at Andbank’s headquarters and attended by the parishes of Andorra la Vella, Ordino, Sant Julià de Lòria and La Massana as the event’s partners, Agustí Pérez, Ironman’s regional director for southern Europe, explained that 70 per cent of those enrolled are new entrants, with 20 per cent of them women and 80 per cent men. In addition, there will be participants from 31 nationalities and more than 500 people, including the staff and volunteers, who will help to organise the event. The Minister of the Presidency, Economy and Enterprise, Jordi Gallardo, declared that “it’s a really important project for us” and added that “the competitions held in Andorra are regarded as the toughest on the international stage; we set ourselves this challenge at the outset and I’m sure that we’ll have even harder routes this year”. Beyond the events set to be based in the different parishes, the epicentre will continue to be the Central Park in Andorra la Vella, where a small stadium with giant screens will be set up to enable the spectators to watch the events.
