Andorra, 10 February 2021.

Andbank will celebrate its 90 years of history in 2021. The entity will commemorate this anniversary by organising several cultural, social and sporting events, adapting them to the measures established due to the current health crisis.

Over the next few months the bank will seek to highlight its experience and stability, brought about by nearly a century spent developing a project for the future. With the Evolving means facing the future with experience campaign, the bank has entered 2021 with an innovative, global and expanding project.

History of a stable entity with a vision of the future

Andbank was founded on December 30th, 1930 in Sant Julià de Lòria, when “the creation of any company, and especially a bank, required real entrepreneurial audacity”, according to Andbank Chairman Manel Cerqueda. The entity anticipated the need to create a bank geared towards facilitating commercial transactions at a time when the economy was focused on agriculture and trade.

With 90 years under its belt, Andbank is the senior bank in Andorra “but, at the same time, the most modern and up-to-date in the country’s financial history, given that, throughout its long existence, the bank has been a symbol of modernity, as it has proved on several occasions”, he declared.

The most important milestone, however, came in 2001 with the integration of Banc Agrícol and Banca Reig (created in 1956 on the initiative of Julià Reig Ribó). The merger, which materialised in record time (nine months), has made Andbank “a benchmark in the country and beyond our borders, because the resulting synergies have made us stronger and they enable us to look towards the future with more optimism and stability”.

Proof of this modernity, stability and experience are the awards the entity won in 2020: Bank of the Year and Best Private Banking in Andorra (awarded by the Financial Times Group), Safest Bank (by Global Finance) and Best Digital Bank in Andorra (by International Finance).

Andbank’s growth continues, in terms of its international scope, by expanding in all the countries in which it operates, as well as its technological transformation, a key process in an industry where it is necessary to stay competitive and an environment in which customers need increasingly sophisticated digital services.

In the coming months the entity will be announcing the initiatives it plans to launch for its employees, customers and society in general in order to commemorate its 90-year history.
