Start of the First Iberian Organ and Gastronomy Meeting

• The concerts will be held from 9 to 14 July in the church of Sant Iscle i Santa Victòria in La Massana

Escaldes-Engordany. Today Monday is the start of the first Iberian organ and gastronomy days organised by the Comú of La Massana and the Association of Friends of Organs with the collaboration of Andbank, the Quart de La Massana and the Heracles group.

The Iberian organ of the church of Sant Iscle i Santa Victòria, which was inaugurated in 2007, was built by the organ-maker Joaquín Lois who will give one of the talks. It will be the centrepiece of the wide variety of activities scheduled around the First Iberian Organ and Gastronomy Meeting.

The first concert, on Monday 9 July, will be performed by Ignacio Ribas, director of the Meeting. Under the title “Landscapes of Iberian Music”, it will cover the music of different parts of the peninsula, from Castile to Portugal, to demonstrate the abilities of this instrument.

The Iberian Organ Meeting will be accompanied by a presentation of Iberian cuisine in the restaurants of La Massana. There will also be a speech and homage to the teacher Montserrat Torrent.

The program will be rounded off by the Organ & Promenade, a musical stroll through the parish every Friday in July and August. The walks will start at 16.00 and will discover the town of La Massana and its heritage with a guided visit to the church and will finish with an organ concert.

All the concerts start at 20.15. Entrance is free and there is limited space. Tickets for the concert reservations for the Organ & Promenade will be available at the Tourism Office in La Massana (Tel. 835 693).
