The winner of the runners-up prize for short novel at the 40th edition of the literary evening awards was Francesc Puigpelat Valls.

During the 40th edition of the literary evening awards, organised by the Circle of Arts and Letters of Andorra, *Andbank awarded the Manuel Cerqueda i Escaler short novel award, which is endowed with a prize of € 6,800.
Five original works were presented for the prize, in Catalan and responding to the particular prize criteria. This year the jury decided to declare the prize void, but a runners-up prize of € 3,000 was awarded to the novel entitled “La carta i la sospita” by the author Francesc Puigpelat Valls.

Andbank has been awarding this prize for more than 25 years as a show of support for Catalan language culture and writers who promote their literature in this language.
During these years of competition, several works by renowned authors have been published, such as Antoni Morell, winner of the short novel prize in 2004, with the work “El vell i els anyells”, or the writer from La Seu d’Urgell, Pep Albanell, who won the short novel prize in 1999 with the title “Zoofilia”.

Last year, the winner of the competition was Marcel Fité, a well-known writer who had already entered and won the prize for his work “El carrer dels petons”. His novel “Escacs de mort” was published and presented at this year’s Sant Jordi festival.
The criteria for presenting the works for the 2018 prize will be made public at the beginning of the year.
