A press conference was held at Andbank’s headquarters today to present the results of the cross-country ski team’s season. The whole team attended, including Irineu Esteve and Carola Vila, coaches Joan Erola and Laura Orgué, and president of the FAE, Pepi Pintat. Also in attendance were Josep Maria Cabanes, the Deputy Director General of Banca País, and Anna Olsina from Andbank’s Business Management Department.

Josep Maria Cabanes welcomed the team and highlighted the good work carried out by both the skiers and the coaching team this year. He also mentioned the fact that the federation is seeking to promote and renew interest in this form of the sport, which is currently enjoying a surge in popularity.

Irineu Esteve was the star of the cross-country ski season. He achieved remarkable results and appeared very happy with his consistent performance, which he said left him feeling generally “very positive”. “I may have done badly in the odd race, but I’m happy with my results and the progress I’ve made”, said Esteve.

With respect to Carola Vila, the coaches described her performance this season as very good, despite the fact that she failed to finish in the top five in the European Cup. In any case, she had a solid performance at the World Championship. Next year, as Carola Vila reaches the senior category, it is possible that she may compete in the World Cup. Vila said she was very happy with her results in the Junior World Championship and happy with her top 10 position, although she would have liked to achieve a top five spot. Nevertheless, she said she was “excited for next year”.
